Dear ORES Families,

No School for students on Wednesday, October 21st!

There is a FLU SHOT CLINIC at the BEDFORD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OCTOBER 21st, 8:15-11:30 and 1:00-4:30 (See attached fliers, FLU SHOT CLINIC.docx & VDH Flu Vaccine Permission Form.pdf, for more information and paperwork)

Please do not send sick children to school. This puts other children and staff at risk of catching illnesses due to children being contagious.

Children must be without a fever (taken when not medicated) for 24 hours before returning to school. A fever is considered 99.6 degrees or higher, taken by mouth or ear.

Children must be free from diarrhea and/or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school.

We will recognize Unity Day on Tuesday, October 20th by wearing orange. Choose any school appropriate clothing or accessory that you already have that is orange. This a day to stand together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Our teachers are always eager to speak to you about any questions or concerns that you may have about your child. Please reach out directly to teachers any time that you have a question so they have the opportunity to assist you. Teacher email links are on the school’s webpage or you can call the school to speak to a teacher after children have been dismissed. Thank you!

Our staff has decided to conduct all Halloween activities on Friday, October 30th.  Just like previous school years we will have an orange and black spirit day instead of allowing students to wear costumes.  Parents will be notified in writing by their child’s teacher if food is a part of any activity.  No costumes, face paint, masks, toys or toy weapons of any type will be permitted at school.  Students may wear hats or other orange/black apparel as well as normal face coverings on October 30th as long as it meets the standard of not being disruptive. Check with your child’s teacher for any Halloween activities. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

The cafeteria is now selling chips ($0.50), cookies ($0.30) and 12 oz. bottled water ($0.50) for lunch each day. These ‘Extra’ items are NOT part of the free lunch students are currently receiving. If children wish to purchase these items they will be charged the listed amount each time. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Do you have facebook? The PTA would love to have you join the ORES facebook page. Join us at ORES Community. This is a great way to keep up with what is going on at school, and it makes it easy to get in touch with other parents or ask questions! Hope you will join us soon!

In an effort to support local families through the Bedford Community Christmas Station, we are partnering with them to collect their most needed items. If you are able, we are collecting toothpaste, tooth brushes, paper towels and toilet paper now until Nov. 20th. Thank you in advance!

ORES Strong!
