Welcome to the Otter River School Nurses Page

My name is Amy Gelles and I have been a registered nurse for 14 years with a background in obstetrics, medical/pulmonary and surgical nursing. I began my school nursing career with BCPS in 2010. I started as the school nurse at  ORES in the Fall of 2021.

If your child requires prescription medication to be administered at school, please request a labeled bottle from the pharmacy for the school clinic. Any medication to be administered at school must be in the original container and a BCPSAuthorization to Administer Medication  form must be completed. Each individual medication will need it's own form. All prescription medications must have a health care provider's signature on the medication form as well as a  parent signature.

Please note that your child can keep cough drops, acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and other over-the-counter medications in the clinic to use as needed, but there must be a medication form for each one and the medication must be provided by the parent/guardian in the original labeled container. Students should not bring in medications themselves. All medications must be delivered to the school nurse or other school office staff member by an adult. The form linked above can be used for all prescription and non-prescription medications
