Notes from the Principal

October 25, 2019

Dear ORES Families:

At this special time of giving, ORES is sponsoring an Angel Tree to support families that could use a helping hand during the holidays.  Beginning Monday November 25, 2019, an Angel Tree located in the office will designate Angels for your child’s selection. Each angel will specify a child’s gender, age, size, and possible gift ideas. The suggestions on the Angels are just that, suggestions.  Do not feel obligated to purchase one of everything mentioned on the Angel, unless you care to do so. If you would like your child to choose one or more Angels from the tree, please complete the information below and return it to school or stop by and help your child select an Angel.

It is important that all gifts be wrapped and have the Angel’s number attached so that we can sort them out for distribution.  All gifts must be returned to ORES no later than Friday December 13, 2019. If you have any questions you may contact either Ms. Waldmann in the Guidance office or Mr.Greenough.  Thank you so much for your support of these families within our school.

As we are moving into the winter season, I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone about tracking school closings or delays:

“There are several ways to keep up with weather related school closings or delays:

  • Download the Bedford County Public School App, which is available in the App Store,
  • On Facebook, “Like” the BCPS page,
  • Watch local television stations or listen to local radio

School staff are NOT contacted directly and must monitor these same sources during inclement weather.  Calling the school for this information is discouraged as the limited staff may be delayed in arriving or busy with making arrangements for the changes due to the weather.”  (Source: ORES Family Handbook)

We are very grateful for your support and continued involvement in supporting our children!
