IMPORTANT UPDATES FROM 8/13/20 SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Changes to the 2020-21 School Year and Start Dates

The 2020-21 school calendar has been changed to reflect decisions made on 8/13/20.  

New start dates:

Bedford Connects begin Tuesday, September 8

Elementary Schools & Bedford Primary begin Tuesday, September 8

Middle Schools begin Wednesday, September 9

High Schools begin Thursday, September 10


FACE COVERING REQUIREMENT
The previous guidance included in the BCPS 2020-21 Health & Safety Plan on face coverings was updated to “require face coverings on the bus and indoors in public spaces when social distancing is not possible and at teacher discretion in classrooms.” Please note that this update does not override state guidance that states, “Staff and students should use cloth face coverings when physical distancing cannot be maintained, as is medically and developmentally appropriate”.

Important Updates from 8/13/20 School Board Meeting


CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) SCHOOL CLOSURE
Bedford County Public Schools still remains closedto the public, but essential appointments for registration can be made by calling your child's school between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has developed a parent resource on how to talk about COVID-19 with your child. The CDC provides daily updates and health-related guidance in regards to COVID-19 if further information is needed for your family.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Registering for school on time helps every child, teacher, and school to be ready when school begins. Contact the school if you have any questions and register at your zoned school.
Any child who is five years old on or before September 30, 2020 may enter Kindergarten.
Documents needed for Kindergarten registration:
● Birth Certificate
● Updated physical
● Record of immunizations
● Proof of residency (copy of mortgage, lease, or real estate tax statement)

Forms to obtain these records will be available at your assigned school. All forms must be completed and returned to the school before your child can begin class.

NEW KG students who have never been in BCPS before:
