Virginia Readers Choice

2017-2018 Virginia Reader's Choice

The purpose of the Virginia Reader’s Choice is to encourage our students to read noteworthy literature that has been sponsored by The Virginia State Reading Association, The Virginia Association of School Librarians, The Virginia Library Association, and The Library of Virginia Youth Services.

The book must contain the following to be eligible for the Va. Reader’s Choice award:

Must be noteworthy in children’s and young adult literature.
Before placing the book on the ballot, it must be published within the last 3 years.
The books must be at the appropriate level for which they are being nominated.

There are a total of 20 books. There are 10 books for the primary level (K-3) and 10 books for the elementary level (4-5).   All 10 books are picture books. Students in grades Four and Five may read the VRC books placed in the elementary level. All 10 of these books are chapter books.

View VRC LiveBinder for book trailers, book talks, author information, and more.

**Students may vote for their favorite VRC book during library class. The votes will then be sent in to the VRC Committee.**
